Our Story

I started out in IT supporting domestic users over 20 years ago, but over time it became clear that in that space, technology was often treated as disposable—replace it rather than fix it properly. I wanted to do more than quick fixes, so I moved into working with businesses, where IT really matters.

Over the years, I worked my way into full-time IT management, learning how to build systems that don’t just work—but actually support how a business runs and grows. One thing that always stuck with me was how people should be treated. Whether it was internal staff or external clients, I’ve always approached it the same way: clear, honest, and focused on doing a good job.

Along the way, I kept getting approached by business owners—usually from smaller companies—who were handling IT themselves because they had to, not because they wanted to. They needed straightforward advice and support without the cost of a full in-house team.

After being made redundant during an acquisition, I took the opportunity to build something around that. Lingard IT Consultancy is designed to give businesses the support of an in-house IT function—without the overhead.

From day one, the focus has been simple: fit into the business, not sit outside it. I even prioritised getting my first client fully stable and secure before worrying about anything else.

As things have grown, I’ve brought in people I trust—Ben (web design) and Matt (graphic design). We’ve worked together before, we know how each other operates, and we share the same values: honesty, reliability, and taking real pride in doing a job properly. That means clients get a joined-up service that actually works.
